Anyone who has been following me on Instagram lately knows that I’ve recently become obsessed with street art.

There is something about the serendipity of turning a street corner and being greeted by an amazing piece of art. I love the randomness of it. No one charging admission. Hell, most people don’t even notice the art put up around them. It is art that is made in public. It’s out in the open, constantly changing, here one day and gone the next.

I’ve been working in New York for a few years now, and I only recently started to see the art that has always been there. A few months ago my friend Alex came to Jersey City for an afternoon of burgers, beers, and wandering the streets looking at street art. It was kind of surreal. I had lived in Jersey City for a year at that point, but I had never seen most of the art that filled the city. I passed it by, but I had never seen it.

That day opened my eyes to the art that I had been surrounded by, now I just notice it.
