In Scrum, teams meet every day in the same place at the same time for 15 minutes. The scrum works because it happens every day, at the same time. For 15 minutes your team comes together to share progress and set priorities. No phones, computers, or distractions. You make commitments to your team of what you’re going to do by when.
There are three questions everyone on the team has to answer:
- What did you do yesterday?
- What will you do today?
- Are there any impediments in your way?
In complex environments consistency reduces chaos and helps break through the noise. By focusing on what you did yesterday and what you are going to do today everyone is in sync. Priorities and progress are clear. Problems surface early and often.
When’s your scrum?
Do you meet with your team every day to set goals and create accountability?
If you’re a freelancer or solopreneur do you write down your personal goals? Are there peers you could set a daily check in with to ensure you’re both moving progressing on your goals?
